PLAY IT HERE

I decided to aim for a one button control schmup, and was looking at quite a few paintings by Rothko. Actually, the first thing I did was take a whole bunch of moodily lit photos from my flat. I imported those into Hexels and got a whole bunch of abstractly lit images, which were used in array to randomly generate backgrounds.

The first day I mostly set up that bg environment, and composed the music. Stages in progress would be separated by tracks in the music. The music itself has alternately rising and falling melodies.

On day 2 I designed the pendulum, and the intro sequence. Pretty much happened organically without much intention, although I knew I wanted the two to juxtapose each other.

I think the two sequences complement each other – similar to when a certain type of argument occurs. A quick burst of annoyed energy, followed by an extended period of contemplation, and resolution.

This one’s a music video for Head like a Hole. This was built as a series of real-time sets in Unity, then ‘shot’. Some post production on certain shots, but most effects were inside Unity.
